 We All Love Snacking

Live edge Maple Charcuterie board full of treats.
Before we dive into the weeds of dos and don'ts of your new board, let me basically tell you how a Charcuterie board is made.
These boards are a slice of face grain lumber taken from a log on a sawmill.
Once the board is sliced it then goes to a drying shed called the kiln to be dried.
Our next step at Knots & Steel is to run it through the planer, this will take the saw marks off before the next step of sanding to a smooth touch.
Live edge wood gets a lot more attention than the regular straight edge boards by carefully shaping and removing some or all of the bark.
The last step is to treat it with some food grade board butter, made from mineral oil and bees wax.
A good buffing to enhance the grain of the wood, then it's now ready for a new home.

Step 1 - Never put a Charcuterie board in the dishwasher or the microwave oven.

Step 2 - You may wash it by hand, with warm water and a squirt of mild dish soap.
Do not leave it soaking in the sink full of water.
Simply rinse it off and dry it with paper towels.

Step 3 -Do not use any wax, abrasives  or furniture polish.

Step 4 -Apply a fresh coat of Knots & Steel board butter when the board starts to look dull, normally every                    four months.

Step 5 - Enjoy your one of a kind charcuterie serving board, It seems to me that everybody loves them.
Perfect for weddings, family get togethers or for a simple snack on movie night.
